The Day Prior

As a kid, Christmas Eve was always full of anticipation.  The kind where you were SO anxious you could almost just jump out of your skin.  All day I would just wish for night to come, and when it was dark enough for the Christmas lights to finally turn on, it meant only a few more hours ( and Midnight Mass) to go!

This was the first year that Harper "got it".  She was excited all day and talked about Santa coming non-stop.

We spent the afternoon making cookies for Santa.

Harper decorated each cookie with great thought and care.

Quincy ate the frosting.
Somehow the frosting went straight from the bowl
to her mouth, never touching a single cookie.

We all got cleaned up for Christmas Eve Service.  We had talked lots about Christmas being special because its Jesus' Birthday, and that's why we are going to church... to celebrate his birth.

Harper's cute little mind was spinning and she asked, "Is Jesus going to have a mermain cake wike me?!?!"

We started a tradition in our house last year.  Christmas Eve the girls get to open one present each.  But the present will be the same thing every year...

New PJs to spend Christmas Eve Night in!!!  This year the girls also got some uber cool pink princess slippers.

Some awesome little neighbors brought over Reindeer Food for H and Q to put out that night.

Back inside we each ate one more Christmas Cookie, then set out Santa's plate of cookies...

Then off to bed the girls went, anxiously awaiting to wake tomorrow morning to see what Santa had brought.
