Big Girl Room

Only a month after Harper turned 2, she was napping upstairs when I heard a loud “Thunk” downstairs… several moments later there was pounding on her bedroom door.  She had figured out how to climb out of her crib.
We converted her crib into a toddler bed, where she has slept the last several months.  A few weeks ago we decided it was time for her to graduate to a full on Big Girl Bed!  Made a family trip to Nebraska Furntiure Mart, picked out a nice pillow top mattress and also picked up the water proof mattress pad cover. Drove home with the mattress strapped to the top of our small SUV.
H and Q both went crazy when we put the bed together.  Jumping, laughing, tackling.  It was a whole new play area for them.  And her first night to sleep in the bed??? She rocked it.
The second night in her new bed??? Harper quickly broke it in by getting sick.  The mattress pad cover, worth its weight in gold.
She loves her new bed.  Makes the perfect place to curl up and read bedtime stories to both girls.  It’s becoming our nightly routine.  Only draw back?  It makes one more bed to make in the morning for mom.

Magnet boards, so she can hang up her
favorite art work from school and pictures.
Things are strategically placed high...
Q won't leave the magnets alone.

Recovered her old lamp shade with fabric to match her curtain and pillows.

Fabric pillows to match that one of my good friends helped make.

Grandma Willoughby made the curtain to match her pillows!

Shoes waiting to be picked up... the start of a losing battle I fear.

Her favorite books, on top and ready to be read that night.
